Dorinna entered the counseling field in 1989, obtaining her MSW from the State University of New York in 1995. She worked in the addiction field until moving to Colorado in 1999. After moving to Colorado, she started a private practice and was trained in EMDR therapy in 2001. This therapy was such a good fit for her that it has been her primary lens since then. By 2010 she was both certified and an approved consultant in EMDR therapy. Since 2016, Dorinna has facilitated trainings for HAP/Trauma recovery and is an EMDR Trainer for HAP. She has also provides advanced trainings and has presented at several national conferences. She specializes in working with complex trauma and dissociative disorders. Dorinna provides therapy, and consultation through her business Advanced EMDR Education, whose mission is to provide accessible EMDR education, especially to clinicians in community mental health. She also provides advanced trainings for Three Rivers Training Center.
